The UAE is poised to expand its position as a world-leading hub for innovation as artificial intelligence (AI) continues its march into our everyday lives — with the technology set to become a major contributor to the nation's GDP.
With the launch of projects such as the DMCC AI Center, the massive growth of AI companies in Abu Dhabi and the ongoing inaugural Dubai AI & Web3 Festival, the UAE is leading the way in the sector, with major results projected.
Speaking at the Dubai AI & Web3 Festival at Madinat Jumeirah, Astra Tech and Botim chief Abdallah Abu Al Sheikh told WAM that AI is projected to have a huge impact on the UAE's future economy, contributing up to 14% of its GDP by 2030, estimated to be worth approximately $100 billion.
Abu Al Sheikh explained that the UAE is firmly establishing itself as a dominant force in the global AI economy amid major expansion.
He added that AI is revolutionizing industries such as healthcare, finance, and government, with its adoption fueling growth by improving operational efficiency and providing personalized services.
Through initiatives such as the National Innovation Strategy and the Dubai Smart City Initiatives, the UAE has become a business environment designed to attract high-growth technology companies.
