Sony Group launches Soneium Blockchain with new Web3 solutions

Sony Group has officially entered the Web3 arena with the launch of its blockchain mainnet, Soneium, along with new services designed to empower creators and connect them more deeply with fans.

The initiative, driven by Sony Block Solutions Labs, S.BLOX Inc., and SNFT Inc., aims to simplify the transition to Web3 while providing innovative tools for creative expression and fan engagement.

According to a press release published on Sony's website on January 14, Soneium serves as the backbone of Sony's Web3 ecosystem, offering a blockchain network where developers can create and launch applications.

During its test phase on the "Soneium Minato" environment, the platform achieved significant milestones, including 14 million registered accounts and over 47 million transactions.

Now open to the public, Soneium enables creators to monetize their work through in-app payments and foster vibrant communities, allowing apps tested on the trial network to transition smoothly to the live environment.

Bringing Web3 to Everyday Users

To make Web3 more accessible, S.BLOX Inc. has rebranded its crypto asset exchange platform as S.BLOX. The platform now features a new user interface and plans to expand its offerings, including a mobile app and additional supported currencies Additionally, a special NFT campaign linked to the popular franchise "Ghost in the Shell" will launch in February.

SNFT Inc. is also launching a new Fan Marketing Platform in February 2025. This tool will help companies issue and manage NFTs with ease, offering fans unique collectibles and experiences. Unlike traditional Web3 platforms, this service simplifies NFT management with integrated web wallets and social login options, making it user-friendly even for newcomers.

According to Sony, Soneium blockchain utilizes cutting-edge technology to address common challenges, such as high fees and slow transaction speeds, creating a scalable and developer-friendly platform.
