As the agriculture sector grapples with mounting challenges in the modern world, companies across the globe are joining forces to explore how cutting-edge technologies and artificial intelligence can revolutionize the food industry.

The Gulfood Green event kicked off today on Sept. 24 in the Dubai World Trade Centre, which will bring industry leaders together to share how technologies and AI are transforming the food’s ecosystem.

The three-day event will also discuss topics on how to achieve sustainability and how Fourth Revolution technologies such as artificial intelligence, blockchain and smart agriculture will impact the agriculture sector.

With more than 500 exhibitors, the Gulffood Green also features platforms such as the Food for Future Summit and the Green Startup Zone.

The Food for Future Summit will discuss topics of modern agriculture problems and how tech and AI will solve it.

At the Food for Future Summit, the opening address was delivered by Anthea Ayache, the founder of The Ethicalist. During the opening ceremony, Ayache explained how the agriculture sector has developed over the years. Despite being part of a roughly $80 trillion global economy, Ayache pointed out that there are still people who go hungry, and the agriculture and food sectors continue to face risks such as food insecurity and challenges in meeting demand.

Apart from the Food for the Future Summit, the event also features a Green Startup Zone where 132 startup companies get to pitch their ideas and have the opportunity to win $50,000.

Commenting about Gulffood Green, Dubai World Trade Centre's Vice President, Trixie LohMirmand, said: “By bringing together the world's policymakers, sustainability pioneers and startups, we are creating a platform that not only addresses the urgent global challenges of climate change and environmental impact but also paves the way for a transformative future in the F&B industry.”
