THE GAMES OF THE FUTURE NAMED AS WEIBO GBA EMERGING INFLUENTIAL BRAND

21 November 2024, Dubai, UAE – World-leading phygital sporting tournament, The Games of the Future has received the enviable accolade of being named as one of the 2024 Weibo GBA Emerging Influential Brands. The tournament received the award at the Weibo Brand Impact Summit in Shanghai on 13th November, an event which celebrates brands positively impacting in the Greater Bay Area of Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao.

The highly coveted prize was awarded to The Games of the Future in recognition of the international tournament’s groundbreaking role in shaping the future of sports and digital culture.  Conceived by Phygital International, The Games of the Future merges traditional sports with digital gaming, offering players a transformative and groundbreaking phygital experience.

The tournament redefines conventions by incorporating advanced technologies into competitive challenges, such as Sport, Battle, Technical and Tactical. Each challenge consists of multiple disciplines, with each discipline divided into two rounds: the first focuses on physical sporting performance, followed by second round that looks to players to showcase their digital gaming prowess.

The inaugural Games of the Future took place in February this year and quickly established itself as the pinnacle of the phygital sporting calendar. The tournament attracted over 2,000 participants, 300,000 in-person visitors as well as a huge 3.2 billion cross-platform streaming views.

This impressive level of visibility and engagement has led the international tournament to quickly establish itself as a high-profile annual event, with many countries vying for the opportunity to host it. Bidding is currently underway to host the 2027 Games of the Future and is expected to be as hotly contested as the past bidding processes for the 2025 and 2026 tournaments which will take place in the UAE and Kazakhstan respectively.
