Zoom Video Communications announced the introduction of Zoom Docs, a Zoom Workplace product built with generative artificial intelligence (AI), the company announced on Aug. 5.
According to the chief product officer at Zoom, Smita Hashim, Zoom Docs is powered by the “Zoom AI Companion”, the company’s generative AI assistant, which will be available for no additional costs for users with Zoom Workplace paid licenses.
The company’s press release highlighted that Zoom Doc’s AI tech can simplify the meeting content into documents, create various content, translate the document, and revise and summarize a whole document.
Highlighting the Zoom Doc’s features, Hashim commented:
“Zoom Docs is included at no additional cost with Zoom Workplace paid licenses, creating even more value for our customers. With AI Companion available every step of the way, Zoom Docs is purpose-built to empower people to ‘work happy’ and give them more time back in their day.”
Zoom had ramped up its AI initiatives, including the recently rebranded AI Companion, which created 7.2 million meeting summaries from its launch in September to the end of 2023. According to research company Gigaom, the AI assistant performed at 95% accuracy, noting that its users had an average rating of 7.33 out of 10 chat interactions.
Zoom is not the only company that has entered the new tech race with its AI-powered documents. Microsoft, introducing its “Microsoft 365 Copilot,” and Google, implementing AI in “Google Docs,” have rushed into the revolutionary tech in the hopes of enhancing productivity.
While AI products are yet to reach every corner of the world, several companies embracing the features of artificial intelligence could be a sign of a changing technology environment.
