XT Exchange Hack: $1.7M in crypto stolen, wallets resume withdrawals

Cryptocurrency exchange XT.COM has fallen victim to a significant security breach, with hackers allegedly stealing approximately $1.7 million worth of digital assets. The incident was first flagged by PeckShield Alert, a blockchain security firm, which reported that the stolen funds had been swapped for 461.58 ETH and are currently stored in the wallet address 0xB43f...8F83.

XT.COM confirmed the breach through an official statement, revealing that the affected platform wallet is associated with the on-chain address 0xdb3ded…..4fd7c.

The exchange acknowledged that around $1 million USDT, spread across 12 different cryptocurrencies, had been moved in what they termed an “abnormal transfer.” XT.COM emphasized that the stolen funds belong to the platform and reassured users that their assets remain secure.

In response to the breach, XT.COM initially suspended withdrawal services to safeguard user funds. The company later announced that wallet upgrades and maintenance had been "preliminarily completed," allowing the gradual resumption of withdrawals for specific tokens. The first phase includes Tron-related tokens, with further updates expected as the situation evolves.

To bolster transparency and security, XT.COM reiterated its plans to launch a Merkel Tree Asset Proof System by mid-December. The system aims to enhance user trust by providing greater visibility into asset reserves, which the company claims are 1.5 times greater than user holdings.

XT.COM stressed that customer assets remain unaffected and highlighted its six-year track record of prioritizing user security. The platform reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining strict fund management protocols while expressing gratitude to its user base for their patience and support during this challenging period.

For further inquiries, XT.COM encourages users to contact its official customer service channels. The exchange has promised ongoing updates as the investigation progresses.
