Phantom, the non-custodial wallet for Solana, issued an emergency patch on its iOS app following reports of users being unexpectedly logged out and locked out of their wallets.
The company addressed the incident on social media, stating that a small portion of iOS users were affected and advising them to restore access using their recovery phrases.
While the problem only impacted a limited number of users, several commented on Phantom’s announcement that they faced significant losses, including cryptocurrency assets such as Solana (SOL). This has raised concerns among users about the wallet's stability, as some claimed that they were unable to retrieve assets even with the use of their recovery phrases.
One user claimed they lost 983 SOL and requested Phantom to send it back. Meanwhile, another individual blamed the users, claiming, “Anyone mad at this shouldn’t be in crypto. Storing ur recovery phrase/seed is like basics. It's like buying a gun and pointing it at someone and being surprised when they freak out.”
Phantom quickly deployed an update to prevent further disruptions and advised affected users to make sure their wallets are backed up securely.
“We’ve pushed a new iOS app update to prevent this from affecting any additional users,” Phantom stated, recommending users double-check that their recovery phrases are stored in secure locations to prevent potential losses. Phantom apologized for the incident and expressed its commitment to ensuring such issues do not recur.
For users still experiencing issues, Phantom’s support team advised reaching out via the app’s support feature to get further assistance.
