Meta CEO Mark Zuckerberg has overtaken Amazon founder Jeff Bezos to become the second-richest person globally.
According to the latest Bloomberg Billionaires Index, Zuckerberg’s net worth has soared to an impressive $206.2 billion in 2024, surpassing Bezos’ $205.1 billion.
Zuckerberg now trails only Tesla and SpaceX CEO Elon Musk, who holds the top spot with a net worth approximately $50 billion higher than Zuckerberg’s.
This year alone, Zuckerberg’s wealth surged by $78 billion, the largest increase among the world’s 500 wealthiest individuals tracked by Bloomberg.
The significant boost in Zuckerberg’s fortune is largely attributed to the remarkable 70% rise in Meta’s share price since the beginning of the year.
“Mark Zuckerberg has seen his fortune grow $78 billion so far this year, making him one of the biggest gainers of 2024,” Bloomberg reported.
Owning a 13% stake in Meta, Zuckerberg has climbed four spots in the billionaire rankings over the past year.
This surge in wealth comes as Meta has successfully turned around its fortunes in 2024, driven by strategic decisions and robust performance in its core advertising business.
Investors have shown particular enthusiasm for Meta’s substantial investments in artificial intelligence (AI), which have significantly boosted revenue growth.
