Konami Digital Entertainment, the digital arm of Japanese gaming giant Konami Group, announced a partnership with the Avalanche blockchain on June 20 to improve its non-fungible token (NFT) platform, Resella.

Resella, launched by Konami last year, is engineered to assist developers and users within the Web3 ecosystem. Developers are provided with tools to create, issue, and manage NFTs directly within their applications, while users experience a more efficient marketplace, supported by Avalanche’s technology.

The integration with Avalanche leverages its Subnet technology and is supported by Ava Labs’ AvaCloud Web3 launchpad service. This setup allows Resella to operate with zero gas costs and ensures consistent processing speeds.

Konami, known for franchises such as eFootball, Metal Gear, and Silent Hill, plans for Resella to extend beyond digital transactions within games. The platform is designed to allow NFTs to serve as functional items like event tickets or to unlock exclusive in-game content, aiming to bridge digital assets with real-world applications.

“Resella paves the way for novel social experiences within the Web3 ecosystem, envisioning seamless integration across diverse services to enhance user engagement,” Konami said in the announcement.

“For instance, NFTs originating from gaming environments can transcend their virtual boundaries to serve as event tickets or unlock exclusive in-game content, enriching the overall user experience,” the company added.

Avalanche contributes to this partnership by facilitating the integration of blockchain technology, which simplifies the user experience by removing the need for external Web3 wallets and complex cryptocurrency transactions. This feature supports transactions in the Japanese yen, with plans for global expansion.
