This year can truly be proclaimed as the start of a new era — the age of artificial intelligence. Across industries, leaders are racing to harness the transformative power of AI in the hopes of driving new innovations to new heights.

Nowhere is this more evident than at GITEX 2024, where cutting-edge tech takes center stage, with pioneering companies showcasing their latest AI features.

In the heart of the GITEX buzz, Intel made waves with an announcement — a mission where the chipmaker is ready to embark on a new AI adventure. On Oct. 15, the chipmaker company announced plans to launch its new Arrow Lake processors just after its Lunar Lake announcement back in September.

Speaking exclusively to The Byteline, Taha Khalifa, EMEA & GCC Country Manager at Intel Corporation, stated, "This is the 4 Ultra Series 2200S, Intel’s latest desktop processor. It includes many new features, such as two types of cores: P-Cores (performance cores) and E-Cores (efficiency cores)."

The new P-Core architecture, Lion Cove, offers double-digit IPC (instructions per cycle) improvements over the previous generation. The efficiency cores, called SkyMont, offer a 30% performance improvement.

Khalifa added, "We’ve also introduced a new Neural Processing Unit (NPU) to optimize AI workloads, making this the first AI desktop on the market. Additionally, it has a new low-power graphics core, XELPG, suitable for casual gamers without the need for a discrete GPU."

Intel also aims to optimize its chips to ensure an ideal experience for gamers.

Khalifa went on to say, "We’re offering a platform with the best performance at 40% less power, meaning less noise and cooling requirements. We’re very excited about this new product."

In terms of enhancing the security, Maurits Tichelman, General Manager EMEA Partner Sales at Intel Corporation, stated, “Our processors for mobile launching in Q1 for the commercial sector combine AI capabilities with vPro technology, providing the most secure platform for enterprise clients. We’re aware of the risks associated with AI in the enterprise and have seen challenges like the CloudStrike incident. With vPro, companies have a robust platform for rapid updates and security.”

The new processors are expected to go on sale on Oct. 24 and will be available through distributors such as Logicom in the UAE.

As part of its future goals, Khalifa claimed, "We have a robust roadmap, recently launching the Xeon 6 for AI workloads and the Gaudi AI Accelerator for heavy AI training. We’re committed to evolving our products to meet the needs of generative AI and AI workload applications."
