Elon Musk’s artificial intelligence (AI) startup xAI is set to launch its latest chatbot, Grok 3, on Monday, with the billionaire boldly claiming it to be the “smartest AI on Earth.”

The highly anticipated AI model will be introduced with a live demonstration at 8 p.m. Pacific Time, Musk announced in a post on X.

Speaking at the World Government Summit in Dubai on Thursday, he teased Grok 3 as a groundbreaking advancement that surpasses all existing AI tools.

According to Musk, Grok 3 was trained on synthetic data and has the unique ability to self-reflect, revisiting its own data to correct mistakes and improve logical consistency. This approach aims to enhance reasoning and accuracy, setting it apart from other generative AI models.

The launch comes at a time of intense competition in the AI sector, as companies worldwide race to develop chatbots that are both more sophisticated and cost-effective.

Chinese AI startup DeepSeek has already made waves with a model rivaling OpenAI’s ChatGPT and is rapidly expanding its talent pool to further its ambitions.

Musk’s push to dominate the AI landscape also reignites his long-standing rivalry with Sam Altman, co-founder of OpenAI. The two originally launched OpenAI as a nonprofit in 2015 but have since taken divergent paths, with Musk frequently criticizing OpenAI’s for-profit shift.

With Grok 3’s release, xAI is staking its claim in the competitive AI race, promising an advanced chatbot that could challenge the industry’s biggest players.
