Revelo Intel's Nick Drakon has resigned after the CEO said he was ordered to transfer funds at gunpoint.
In an X post on Sept. 5, the crypto research platform chief wrote: “I was recently targeted, surveilled and robbed by a highly sophisticated group.
“The group was specifically interested in crypto assets and knew the deposit addresses belonging to the crypto businesses I operate. I was forced, at gunpoint, to log into a number of crypto accounts and transfer funds out.”
Drakon added that the thieves stole his personal funds, earnings and funds from the firm’s Revelo Ventures investment platform and that his wife and baby son were also threatened during the robbery.
He claimed that there is the possibility that some persons involved with Revelo Ventures may have been involved in the robbery, but did not share any further details that “may potentially put my family at further risk.”
“The vast majority of stolen funds belonged to me personally,” Drakon added. “There is some evidence to suggest that someone in the Ventures syndicate is either part of the group, or passing information onto them.”
Drakon has now stepped away from the company and will assist law enforcement in apprehending the culprits and to facilitate recovery or payback of funds to Ventures members.
Vu Benson, the former COO, will now replace Drakon as Revelo Intel’s CEO.
