In response to the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene, North Carolina's Bitcoin community is organizing a convoy of emergency room physicians, volunteers, and retired military personnel to provide critical assistance in the state's mountain region.

The operation, set to commence on October 4 from the Greensboro area, will see a 12-member team equipped with six full-sized trucks, multiple utility task vehicles, four trailers, one horse, and one mule. This initiative is spearheaded by the North Carolina Blockchain Association, with Head of Industry Affairs Dan Spuller announcing the details on X.

The convoy, established by the North Carolina Blockchain Initiative, Bitcoin Mining Museum, and HM Tech, a Bitcoin mining and ASIC repair company, will focus on the western region of North Carolina, including the Appalachian Mountains and Ashe County, one of the hardest-hit areas. The team will utilize chainsaws and medical supplies to clear paths and search for missing individuals.

The Bitcoin community aims to support "overlooked" communities that have received little to no state or federal aid and remain cut off from essential supplies.

Spuller highlighted the community's dedication, stating: "The challenges in Western North Carolina are immense, but the way the Bitcoin community has come together to deliver aid is inspiring."

Reports indicate that residents in the affected areas are isolated and without electricity.

Hurricane Helene has claimed an estimated 189 lives and caused extensive property damage across seven states: Florida, Alabama, Georgia, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, and Virginia, with hundreds of people still missing.
